MURRAY BELL
(Racing Editor)
Murray took his first interest in racing in 1970 and has worked in the industry since 1973.
He was formerly editor of Blood Horse magazine (NZ) and chief racing writer at the Daily Telegraph (Sydney).
Apart from being an award-winning writer, Murray is also a successful yearling buyer, a former director of the Racehorse
Owners Assn (NSW) and past-president of the NSW Racing Media Association. He took over as Racing Editor at SCMP in February, 2003.

ALAN AITKEN
Multi-talented Alan has worked in all facets of the media, including live television
in Australia, and was the master of the famous AJC Punters Podium in Sydney for many years.
The former Media Associations Rookie of the Year has gone on to become one of its
most respected writers, with most of his previous work appearing in the Sydney Morning
Herald before joining SCMP in 2001. He also has extensive magazine and radio experience,
and is a respected racing form and video analyst.

JOHN BELL
John Bell has been involved in racing journalism since the late 1980s, initially at the Sporting Globe in Melbourne. He was promoted to the Herald-Sun, Melbourne’s largest-selling daily newspaper, where his duties included coverage of major trackwork stories during the spring and autumn carnivals. He was also the on-course anchorman for racing coverage on Channel 31, as well as doing regular racing spots on radio Sport 927. John’s abilities were recognised with many awards as for both his journalism and tipping. Since leaving the Herald-Sun to further his industry experience five years ago, John has become a highly-trained computer ratings analyst and track watcher. He arrives here following a three-year stint in Singapore, where he managed his own business, but has been analyzing Hong Kong racing for several years.

SHIHAM RAMIZ
Shiham took his first interest in racing in 1993 when he first arrived in Hong Kong to work
as a sports writer at the Hong Kong Standard and was been actively involved in the creation
and production of Racing Standard for many years. He joined SCMP in 2004 as a sports and
racing sub-editor. Shiham is passionate about horse racing and his understanding of the
game is well reflected in the overall quality of Racing Post presentation.

DARREN FLINDELL
Darren Flindell got his first taste of racing at age 14 when he started calling races into a tape recorder from the grandstands of Sydney race tracks. Immediately after finishing school, he went to work at racing papers such as Greyhound Recorder and National Trotguide where he did stints as a reporter and tipster. In 1991, he joined Radio 2KY; and, in 1995, he made the transition to TV, where he hosted a Late Mail programme on Sky Channel, tipping on the evening race meetings and hosting a weekly greyhound show. In 1999, he joined the Hong Kong Jockey Club as racing presenter and race caller.
