"Shiham's Trackwork Highlights"

Prev. Story |Next Story

RACE ONE, RATED 60-40 (C4), 1,000 METRES
Native Kid is seven years old but has had only 13 starts due to health issues. Credit to trainer David Hall, who has done a good job to keep this fellow looking a treat - catching the eye a number of times in the mornings. Mandarin has had the benefit of a run and the race has brought him on nicely in terms of fitness. St Didar has had a quick preparation but there's plenty to like about the way he trialled on October 20 and he zoomed down the 800m on Tuesday very smoothly - a nice type. And the same can be said about Perfect Gear, who is a very nice mover, too.

RACE TWO, RATED 40-0 (C5), 1,600 METRES
East Rider should relish this trip and strips fitter with six strong gallops since his last run on October 1. So Pretty So Smart worked well prior to his last outing and ran accordingly. He has been working in the same manner and seems to be coming to hand nicely. Mythic Steed is an old fellow and has only needed two steady pieces of work to maintain his condition well. Sammy's Fortune did one of his best workouts 18 days ago, a stylish 1,200m gallop. His other assignments were good, too.

RACE THREE, RATED 40-10 (C5), 1,400 METRES
Crush On You has gone off the boil for sometime, but seems to be coming along nicely with a quiet trial and strong gallops. General Power is making his debut for a new yard and has had a good preparation for this campaign with two good trials and steady workouts. Bernini has come out of his last two runs very well and looks in fabulous order - a nice trial effort on October 30 as well. Actuarial Talent worked well prior to his solid last-start win and has been maintaining the same work ethic since.

RACE FOUR, RATED 60-40 (C4), 1,400 METRES
Travel Guide is resuming this season and he has had a power of work, including a nice trial effort on October 13 - looking much sharper now. Mark Up looks a talented type and has done everything right in the mornings for his first-up task and should make his presence felt. Mighty Winner has been given an easy time since his last run with two solid hit outs and looks very fit. Packing Friend is resuming after being sidelined through a bleeding attack. He is not showing any health worries as trainer Peter Ho has him going well again - Tuesday's lead-up gallop was a strong pointer that he is enjoying his work.

RACE FIVE, RATED 60-40 (C4), 1,600 METRES
My Goal has his regular jockey back on board and he impressed in his last three pieces of work, hitting the line smoothly each time. Amityship is flying and this last-start winner once again worked brilliantly over 1,200m on the dirt on Monday and looks in grand order. Wonderful Gains has been a costly one to follow, but he has been showing good improvement with smart workouts lately and strips much fitter now. Record High caught the eye in two of his last three gallops, coming home fluently to clock good times.

RACE SIX, RATED 80-60 (C3), 1,800 METRES
Ichiban's final 800m gallop on Wednesday was a quality piece of work and trainer John Size has him looking well. Monte Cristo went fluently in his final lead-up gallop on Thursday and, like so many of the David Ferraris yard, he looks a picture. Best Power has improved from two outings and did a smashing workout, stretching out superbly over the final 400m on Monday in 22.5. Horace's Legend has again drawn wide, but has gone nicely in his last six gallops and is holding his condition well.

RACE SEVEN, RATED 110-85 (C1), 1,000 METRES
Dynamic Blitz has been burning down the house since his mediocre outing last time with two powerful trials (October 16 and 30) and solid workouts. Friendly Gains has improved significantly from two outings and has looked the part in recent pieces of work. Craig's Dragon has had a full schedule of work, including a good trial on October 6 behind Royal Flush and looks in fantastic order. Blaze King looks a different horse since joining David Hall during the summer break. He trialled like a good thing on October 6, clocking impressive times, and his lead-up gallops were outstanding as well.

RACE EIGHT, RATED 115-90 (C1), 1,400 METRES
Sunny King caught the eye when resuming last time and he had Darren Beadman on board for his final two hit outs - doing it very nicely, though. Fleet Command won well first-up and has been working in excellent fashion. He has a good bloom to his coat. Kings Falcon is another talented fellow from the John Moore yard and he stopped the clock in 22.6 for 400m for Weichong Marwing - brilliant work. Romping has gone off the boil this campaign, but nothing can be faulted in his work - stretching out well in his last two pieces of work.

RACE NINE, RATED 80-60 (C3), 1,200 METRES
Newcomer Cat Storm has been well schooled, including two good trial efforts and should give a bold sight. One Wee Acorn did powerful work with Douglas Whyte on Thursday, coming home strongly at the end of his 1,200m assignment - looks healthy. Mr Celerity arrived after winning his only start in good style and he hasn't missed a beat since, impressing in his work and trials. Talented Flying Supreme has had some steady gallops since his last-start success and is primed to repeat the dose.

RACE TEN, RATED 85-60 (C3), 1,400 METRES
Newcomer Chater Way - sporting the colours of the Hong Kong Cricket Club syndicate - showed there's a big future ahead when trialling brilliantly on October 20; his recent gallops were good, too. Special K had his final "gallop" at the races on Wednesday and went well - judging by his appearance, it hasn't hurt him at all. Johnson ran a big race first-up and he has been maintaining the same work ethic since. Sunrise has done plenty of work, including a quiet trial, and was smart in his Thursday's piece.
